The Panorama shows the common of Marienfelde, a place looking back on a long and eventful history. People settled in this place for thousands of years. Templar founded a knight's estate in the 12th century and built one of the finest fieldstone churches in this area. In 1435 Marienfelde became part of the bigger town of Berlin (latter the capital of the Prussian kingdom and nowadays the capital of the reunited Germany). The medieval fieldstone church is the oldest building of Berlin today.
I like to live and work in a place with such a historic flair. The picture was inspired by the knowledge that my "predecessors" had already seen a change of millennium here.
January 1, 2000 was a cloudy, cold winter day. The photo was taken about 1.40 p.m. (12.40 UTC) with a Roundshot Super 220 VR (Nikon 50 mm) on Agfa RSX 100.

Das Panorama zeigt den Anger von Marienfelde, einen Ort mit langer und ereignisreicher Geschichte. Seit 1435 ist Marienfelde ein Bestandteil von Berlin (heute Deutschlands Hauptstadt), doch schon seit über tausend Jahren siedeln Menschen an diesem Platz. Im 12. Jahrhundert gründeten die Templer hier ein Rittergut und errichteten um 1220 die Feldsteinkirche, das älteste erhaltene Gebäude Berlins.
Ich wohne und arbeite an diesem Ort. Die Gewissheit, daß schon meine »Vorgänger« hier einen Millenniumswechsel erlebten, inspirierte mich zu dieser Aufnahme.
Der 1. Januar 2000 war bei uns ein trüber, kalter Wintertag. Das Photo entstand um 12:40 Uhr (UTC) mit einer Roundshot Super 220 VR (Nikon 50 mm) auf Agfa RSX 100.
